Surah Al A'la

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

1. سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْاَعْلَىۙ

   Sabbiḥisma rabbikal-a‘lā.

   Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High,

2. الَّذِيْ خَلَقَ فَسَوّٰىۖ

   Allażī khalaqa fasawwā.

   Who created and ˹perfectly˺ fashioned ˹all˺,

3. وَالَّذِيْ قَدَّرَ فَهَدٰىۖ

   Wal-lażī qaddara fahadā.

   and Who ordained precisely and inspired accordingly,

4. وَالَّذِيْٓ اَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعٰىۖ

   Wal-lażī akhrajal-mar‘ā.

   and Who brings forth ˹green˺ pasture,

5. فَجَعَلَهٗ غُثَاۤءً اَحْوٰىۖ

   Fa ja‘alahū guṡā'an aḥwā.

   then reduces it to withered chaff.

6. سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنْسٰىٓ ۖ

   Sanuqri'uka falā tansā.

   We will have you recite ˹the Quran, O Prophet,˺ so you will not forget ˹any of it˺,

7. اِلَّا مَا شَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ ۗاِنَّهٗ يَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفٰىۗ

   Illā mā syā'allāh(u), innahū ya‘lamul-jahra wa mā yakhfā.

   unless Allah wills otherwise. He surely knows what is open and what is hidden.

8. وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرٰىۖ

   Wa nuyassiruka lil-yusrā.

   We will facilitate for you the Way of Ease.

9. فَذَكِّرْ اِنْ نَّفَعَتِ الذِّكْرٰىۗ

   Fa żakkir in nafa‘atiż-żikrā.

   So ˹always˺ remind ˹with the Quran˺—˹even˺ if the reminder is beneficial ˹only to some˺.

10. سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنْ يَّخْشٰىۙ

    Sayażżakkaru may yakhsyā.

    Those in awe ˹of Allah˺ will be mindful ˹of it˺.

11. وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الْاَشْقَىۙ

    Wa yatajannabuhal-asyqā.

    But it will be shunned by the most wretched,

12. الَّذِيْ يَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرٰىۚ

    Allażī yaṣlan-nāral-kubrā.

    who will burn in the greatest Fire,

13. ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوْتُ فِيْهَا وَلَا يَحْيٰىۗ

    Ṡumma lā yamūtu fīhā wa lā yaḥyā.

    where they will not ˹be able to˺ live or die.

14. قَدْ اَفْلَحَ مَنْ تَزَكّٰىۙ

    Qad aflaḥa man tazakkā.

    Successful indeed are those who purify themselves,

15. وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهٖ فَصَلّٰىۗ

    Wa żakarasma rabbihī fa ṣallā.

    remember the Name of their Lord, and pray.

16. بَلْ تُؤْثِرُوْنَ الْحَيٰوةَ الدُّنْيَاۖ

    Bal tu'ṡirvnal-ḥayātad-dun-yā.

    But you ˹deniers only˺ prefer the life of this world,

17. وَالْاٰخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَّاَبْقٰىۗ

    Wal-ākhiratu khairuw wa abqā.

    even though the Hereafter is far better and more lasting.

18. اِنَّ هٰذَا لَفِى الصُّحُفِ الْاُوْلٰىۙ

    Inna hāżā lafiṣ-ṣuḥufil-ūlā.

    This is certainly ˹mentioned˺ in the earlier Scriptures—

19. صُحُفِ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ وَمُوْسٰى ࣖ

    Ṣuḥufi ibrāhīma wa mūsā.

    the Scriptures of Abraham and Moses.
